Paper Convention Presents; CUT. SLICE. FOLD – Live talks and workshops at No Vacancy in Melbourne on the 17th, 18th & 19th November.

The Paper Convention Collective is going to Melbourne for the first time with Cut.Slice.Fold.

In a world that is seemingly loosing touch with the physical nature of art, writing and working with your hands in favour of the digital revolution, The Paper Convention have an absolute passion for the tactile world of paper and are providing something unique for the creative world…and we really love it!!

Speakers include desktop’s editor, Brendan McKnight, Emma van Leest (paper-cut artist), Benjamin Ducroz (paper stop motion artist), and the Paper Convention. Tickets are now on sale.

Brendan McKnight
Brendan will talk on how he came to be the editor of desktop; he will answer questions from the audience and lead a discussion on the importance and role of magazines in today’s design culture plus much more.

The Paper Convention
This workshop will enable you to learn the skills of 3D geometric paper-sculpture. This paper technique is pushing contemporary creative expression to new frontiers. The workshop offers unique and intimate creative learning experiences.

6pm — 7pm, Friday 18 November 2011
Benjamin Ducroz

Benjamin will talk on his digital animations, including paper animation forms, plus there will be a discussion with the audience into the development and process of his projects plus much more.

10am — 1pm, Saturday 19 November 2011
Emma van Leest
