ABOUT THE COURSE
Drawing is a natural skill…

Whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced artist, this unique course of eight weekly sessions is designed to develop your perception and visual skill.

The energy and spirit of the human form is fundamental, it’s the thread that runs throughout this series. Drawing form a live model is the most direct way I know to learn how to access your innate visual skills, which can then be applied to drawing or painting anything.

You won’t just be learning ‘how to’ but will be tapping into your unique creativity to respond personally and with meaning to our models.

Using music and dynamic drawing exercises it is possible to make an instant connection, bypassing your analytical brain and moving into creative flow. These moments of ‘flow’ or being ‘in the zone’ is where the magic happens and drawings emerge without effort. Being in these states enhances a sense of wellbeing and joy that filters into your daily life.

“…nudity offers the richest meaning.” Auguste Rodin

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR – Gabbi Lancaster
For the past 15 years I have been working with primary school children and adults teaching drawing and painting. Life drawing has continued to be an integral element in my work and teaching methods. I have participated in this drawing process for 30 years and have seen hundreds of students awaken to their own creativity and drawing ability.

During the late 80’s, I studied figurative art and anatomy at The Paddington Art School. I realised that we were learning about much more than drawing and painting. It was an awakening and deepening of perception, sensitivity, a way of being. I experienced moments, while drawing, of being in an altered state, meditative, it was spiritual and I loved that mysterious feeling. I spent thousands of hours drawing and developing. I was privileged to work for a few great teachers and artists collaborating, learning and creating.

I love to create a nurturing environment that will support each participant and their unique process.

Since 2013, I have been painting full time, exploring nature inspired themes and exhibiting regularly.
